Examination and Desk Copy Instructions
Examination Copies: For an examination copy of an SIU Press title,
please supply the following information on your department letterhead and
include payment of $5.00 per book to cover domestic shipping and handling.
International shipping and handling will be billed at cost.
- Name of course (not course number) that
may adopt the book
- Frequency that course is offered
(annually, quarterly, irregularly)
- When course will next be taught
- Estimated number of students
- Bookstore(s) that will order books for
course
- Office telephone number (and e-mail if
available)
Check, money order, or valid Mastercard,
Visa, or Discover credit card number and expiration date must accompany your
order. Payments by credit card will be processed immediately. Payments by check
or money order may take up to two weeks to process. Make checks payable to SIU
Press. A maximum of three books may be requested for examination over a
six-month period.
Desk
Copies:
If you have already adopted an SIU Press book for a course and have not
received an examination copy, please send us your name, address, the title of
the book, the name of the course and the bookstore that will stock the book,
and your telephone number. We will send you a complimentary desk copy of the
book in 2-4 weeks. If you request additional copies for your teaching
assistants, the total enrollment in the course (and bookstore order) must reach
or exceed a ratio of 20 books ordered per book requested (e.g., 40 students for
two books requested, 60 students for three books requested).

Electronic Examination and Desk Copies: Books that are
available as ebooks on our website are also available as electronic examination
copies for a 60-day review period or electronic desk copies with unlimited
access. There is no charge for this service and the books are available to
review immediately. To request an ebook examination or desk copy, please email
your request to Hannah K. New at hknew@siu.edu. Please provide the
information requested in the instructions above.
